A HUGE thank you to everyone that was involved with the Wichita Hook Pull and Suspension event!! Gary...it was totally awesome!! A suicide suspension was something i've wanted to do since i saw my first one done about 2-3 years ago. i knew when the time was right it would happen. Master thought it would be at Thunder this year, but this event popped up sooner, and was being hosted by a friend. Master ordered the hooks...8 gauge...autoclaved them so we would be ready. Apprehension stirred within me. Goodness! Those hooks are HUGE!! i'm not a little woman, i'm middle aged, and what in the world am i thinking???? lol The pain of the hooks going in....my skin tearing if i did make it up....what if i just can't do it?? All those things and more running through my head. We arrived last night, and the place was all set up with the rigging. i kept trying to maintain my composure. It didn't take long until Aimee and her wonderful assistant started putting hooks in the members of her family. i was front row, intent on her skill, ease, and the reactions of those on the receiving end. i've had numerous 12 gauge rings put in my back, so it wasn't anything new to me...just a larger size needle and jewelry/hooks. One after another got on the table to get the hooks, but no one was going to the rigging yet. i was hoping to see how some of them did before i had to. The next thing i know i hear my name being called that it's my turn to get hooks!! Oh wow! Still no one getting on the rigging. We had talked earlier with Aimee's assistant(not sure if i should use name or not) about the placement of my hooks. i told him of my thoughts about them being placed horizontal, not vertical like everyone else before me. He said it has to do with the grain of the skin...the contour. He looked at me, pinched my back here and there, and decided i was a candidate for the horizontal after all. He also told me what felt right to me was how it should be done. He measured and marked me, then i got on the table. Drew was there holding my hand, and Master was assisting and there for me. It wasn't nearly as bad as i had thought! Yes, it hurt, but not excruciating. She had all four hooks in within a matter of a couple minutes. WHAT A HIGH!!!!!!!!!!!! i was the first to attempt a suspension!! i went right to the rigging. Gary was there to hook me up and oversee to make sure i was ok. It was an intense feeling! Again, i'm a big girl with a bad shoulder. i got up to my tiptoes, the pull feeling good and bad at the same time. my bad shoulder not doing well, so they moved the placement of the rope on the outside hooks. That was a little better. Each time i would try to put all my weight off the floor my shoulder/arm would hurt too much....i couldn't get past it. So i tried leaning forward, letting my weight pull the hooks out, instead of up. MUCH better!!! i had the majority of my weight on the hooks, but couldn't lift my legs at that angle, but was up on my tiptoes. i played at it, savoring the sensations for several minutes. After i had gotten down, Master said He was thinking of asking Gary to lift my feet, but was afraid to...He didn't know if it was what i wanted or not. i almost wish He had...BUT there is always the next time!!!! Sooooo, no, i didn't get off the ground, and am trying NOT to beat myself up over it. It helps me feel a little better knowing i wasn't the only one that didn't. The next time, shoulder pain or not, i'm going to push myself all the way, even if it's just for a second or two. It was a great experience anyway!!! Thank you again to everyone for such a great time!!! |
