Titles

Let's start with who I am:
Prophett, that is My name. Yes it is the name I chose for Myself but most importantly it is who I really am. I left My vanilla name behind sometime ago.

Titles:
Lord - Main Entry: 1lord
Pronunciation: 'lord
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English loverd, lord, from Old English hlAford, from hlAf loaf + weard keeper -- more at LOAF, WARD
Date: before 12th century
One having power and authority over others: a ruler by hereditary right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due: one of whom a fee or estate is held in feudal tenure c : an owner of land or other real property: HUSBAND: one that has achieved mastery or that exercises leadership or great power in some area:

Do I have authority over others? Yes. A rules by hereditary rights? Possibly I have researched a bit of My last name to find a few interesting things but nothing concrete. Are service and obedience due? I expect it from those who choose to give it. Owner of land? Got Me here, however I would argue that HOD is as real as anything ergo I own that land. One that has achieved mastery ...etc? Yes I like to think that I have mastered a few things. I will also admit that I have many yet to work on.

Hence when looking at it in that light according to good ol' Mirriam Webster I can loosely claim the title of Lord. My "land" as I referred above is HOD thus expanding the title to Lord, The House of Darkwatch as is/was customary.

Combine that with My name which is also custom and you have Lord Prophett. Or as you would have it in the modern world: Mr. Smith.
Do not each of you expect your correct proper name to be used in the vanilla world? Do you not enjoy the teller behind counter calling you Mr., Ms., or Mrs. It denotes a bit of courtesy, and respect, and has an overall pleasing quality that we enjoy.

Also the title of Lord was not chosen by Me as was Prophett. That title was given to Me by My submissive. Just as in the vanilla world you do not insist everyone call you by your Mr/Mrs title I do not expect everyone around Me to use Lord with Me. In fact many do not. Generally when I introduce Myself it is as Prophett, more formal occassions may require Lord Prophett while sometimes it is the whole (way too long version). Each one has its purpose and makes its own statement. In some cases it is all shortened to LP and to some a more formal M'Lord which is also customary.

All in all each one sums up who I am.
Just don't call Me "Sir".

Prophett,
Lord, The House of Darkwatch
