I have pondered the question of control a bit. Trying to get a grasp on it's meaning and such before responding. This morning, the first of the New Year 2001, Happy New Year A/all, I came to the following thought.
One can only be in control as much as the one being controlled permits it. Whether Y/you are talking about D/s, or vanilla, or mundane. So long as there are 2 thinking and sentient beings there will always be the element of "flux"? Let U/us briefly look at this scenario. I own a horse. I train the horse to follow My commands when I ride it. Hopefully the horse will follow My commands because I have trained it well, it has learned to, it knows (has learned) no other way. However perhaps one day there is a spark of a thought. The horse for whatever reason decides it does not what to obey.

I have been following this thread and pondering the posts and formulating a reply for a time now. Certainly this is not a "simple" question in My mind although to some it would be. So here it goes.
First off there are differant levels of both Dominance and submission. Hence the various terms such as Master, Dominant, sub, slave. But for sake of discussion I shall set them aside for now.
Sir T's' statement was most intriguing. Here is how I see it. An army submits to the will of it's general, a horse submits to the will of it's rider, a team submits to the will of it's coach, a sub submits to the will of their Dominant, yet at anytime this could change. The army does not beleive in the war and goes AWOL, the horse gets spooked and bolts, the team looses and fires the coach, the Dom becomes abusive and the sub leaves, as well as the General, the rider, the coach and the Dom finding displeasure and leaving as well. There will always be some form of Dominance and submission. Does the slave that "gives up" her will to her Master live an illusion? In so much as how she perceives it. When it comes right down to it she can get up and do what she wants when she wants, she chooses not
